Guest Posting Guidelines
Yes, I’d love to have your quality content on our natural health site.
Here are the guidelines as they stand today.
FIRST CONTACT. You dont have to, but you’re welcome to send in your idea and a brief outline before you write your article. There’s a Contact link in the footer.
LENGTH. Ideally over 1000 words, but 600 words is the minimum. Google prefers longer content, you know.
RELEVANT CONTENT. This should be self-evident but let’s say it anyway. If an article provides little value to our natural health audience, it wont fly. You can get a good idea of what’s relevant by clicking around the site, of course.
QUALITY CONTENT. If what I read needs extensive editing to correct obvious writing errors (typos, spelling mistakes, unclear meaning, etc), that wont fly either.
- Incidentally, I’m not a stickler for apostrophes. Words like cant and wont are okay with me because these days people know we mean can’t, won’t, don’t, wouldn’t and such like.
UNIQUE. Your post can either be (1) an original article written for NaturalHealthJoy.com which means it has not been published or submitted elsewhere online, and it’s not on your blog, and you agree not to distribute it to other websites. Or (2) it’s an article of exceptional quality from your site and you agree to give it substantial social media promotion. We’ll add “Originally published at…” early in the article.
SUPPORTED. Please provide scientific sources for your health claims. If you mention that something is good or bad, you need to show how you know this by putting links to trustworthy sources in brackets, like this: [http://somesite.com/somearticle].
NO HYPERLINKING. Please put any relevant links in brackets such as [http://somesite.com/somearticle] and we’ll use them to create the hyperlinks.
SELF-PROMOTION. You can certainly promote your business, products or services, but please do so only in the bio (or “About the author”) at the end.
BIO. It’s optional but you’ll probably want to supply a short bio. Maximum of 2 links, such as your Facebook link and a page at your site.
YOUR PHOTO OR MINE? Due to the financial risks involved in publishing photos without proven publishing rights, we’ll use an image from Stencil unless you provide proof that your image is indeed yours. Our decision is final, as you’d expect.
HOW TO SUBMIT. Please use the Contact form (in the footer) to send your plain text article, with a suggested title.
EDITING. You accept that your content may be edited before publishing it. Rest assured, the edits will only be minor (or the piece will not be accepted).
THE FINAL DECISION. It’s ours, of course, as I’m sure you understand. I’ll let you know one way or another but sorry, I wont enter into discussions as to why or how to improve any article we decline.
RESPONSE TIME. Normally you’d hear back within 48 hours, but occasionally that wont be possible. One week maximum is my goal.
Thanks for your interest,
